giraffectionate replied to your post: Hi I was wondering how did you did the

I don’t really understand the blob thing? How does that help I’m so confused.

Oh! it’s only useful if you’re working perfectly symmetrical! when you flip an object it does so in relation to the object, not the canvas. So when you flip an object, it’ll be in the same spot as it was just flipped(in my example I’ve already moved the arm in to the right spot!).

If you want it on the opposite side of the canvas as well as flipped you need to add junk in the corners so the layer is treated as a canvas sized image.

if that makes sense ^^’ sorry, it’s a bit weird.

Anonymous: You can flip a single layer in PS. You go to Edit > Tranform instead of flipping the whole image in the Image menu. Going Edit > Trasform > Flip Horizontal (or flip vertical or whatever) will flip the active layer you're on OR if you have selected something on your active layer will flip that selection.

Oh! thanks for letting me know! I was sure it was somewhere XD hehe

I’ll add that to the post :) thanks again!

Anonymous: Hi I was wondering how did you did the thing in the speedpaint of connie where you like duplicated her arm so you wouldn't have to draw it again? Sorry if I'm not specific I just don't know what it's called lol

No problem, I know exactly what you’re talking about! :) I tend to do this a bunch if I’m either working symmetrically or to help with proportions on opposite limbs. As far as I know you can’t do this in PS, cause you can only flip the whole file and not a single layer.

So you’ve drawn a super amazing arm and want another one! First duplicate the layer, flip it horizontally:

then just move your new arm into place! TA-DA!

If you’re working perfectly symmetrical you can add some blobs in opposite corners, so when you flip it it stays in the right spot!

Hope that helps! :D

Anonymous: I was looking at the sketch cards you made a I was wondering how do you know where to use the white get pen to show light in you drawings❓💯

The same way you know where to put shadow! :D

There are two pens I use -  a white gel pen for little highlights, these are the same as highlighting normally. And Posca pen for big things, where I do ‘reverse-shading’. I do it with my digital work too (you can see a bit here). It’s just teaching yourself how to think about light differently.

Anonymous: What program do you use to draw on the computer and what tablet to draw with? Your drawings come out so well! Thanks!

I sketch by hand, do pretty much everything else in PaintToolSAI, and use PhotoshopCS6 for final editing (colour adjust, textures, exporting). And I use a 13HD Cintiq :D Thank you!

Hurray! finally did something with Connie! I’m not really keeping to any theme with those doodle things I’ve been doing, so a good excuse to draw her~

bdsmaybe: Heyo stranger! I am an old old lady who still uses paper and quill pens to draw. I was wondering, what type of tablet do you use to draw and what specs should I look for if I want to buy one.

Hello there :) I use a 13HD Cintiq, I used to use a small Intuos4. A good start would be to define what’s best for you, some people work better with a screen based tablet and others don’t. Some stores have test models on display you can play around with if you aren’t sure.

The other thing to look out for is the size you work on paper, Tablets range from small to quite large. In terms of my preferences, I use small A5 and A4 sketchbooks, so the 13HD is a good size. I’ve tried bigger ones and they hurt to use, but some people really like them! I also can’t go back to my Intuos or any non-screen tablet, I do know people who prefer them though and can use both types!

If you’re just starting out with digital work as well I’d recommend getting a cheap tablet! know what program you like to use before investing in something potentially expensive. I hope that answers your question! :D

Anonymous: Hi there! I'd like to buy your set of Dragon Age mini-cards. Is there any chance you will be including your more recent pieces into the set as well (the advisors, inquisitor, etc.)?

Hi! and yes! I will be adding them, hopefully within the next month. For those interested I’ll also be restocking the Steven Universe cards and adding new Amethyst…when I draw her.
