I studied animation at RMIT for 3 years, that helped me improve my animations but isn’t how I learned about those sort of things!

I’ve been doing digital art for 10 years now, most of what I know is a combination of messing around and looking at how others work. Mainly the messing around, taking time to fiddle with programs and find out why something might not have worked, how to make it better, or just trying out new things :)

I use a Wacom 13HDCintiq! :D

Do you mean like this or this? when you make a post highlight the text, a little bar should pop up, click on the picture of a chain link, then you can add in the link you want :)

If for whatever reason that doesn’t work change the text editor to HTML and enter <a href=“add the link here”>and your words here</a> and that should give you some linked text.

There are two ways I do it! depends how long the animation is.

If it’s fairly short (like the Steven Universe gifs) I’ll make line and base colour layers for each frame and one big square of shading, then I duplicate that layer a bunch and clip it to each base colour layer:

like this! but imagine the squiggly lines are more like the layer in the next example! and a setup like this for every frame of the animation.

If the animation is more complex or I’ve done the lines in TVPaint I’ll do it in TVP, this could also be done in other programs. First I have the line layer:

Underneath I put the shading layer (in this case the brown bloby bit). Then I use the paint bucket set to Erase>Above, and click anywhere outside the line work.

And there you go! if you don’t have clipping masks or fill erase you can also just make a selection outside the linework and erase the selection on the shading layer, just need to remember to duplicate the layer a bunch if you’re animating! hope that helps! :)

As far as I know CC still has the timeline window! I think any version from 7.0 up has the timeline (might be wrong though). Depending on the version the window will be labelled ‘Animation’ or ‘Timeline’. So any of the bits I do in CS6 should be able to be done in most versions of PS :) By default the window appears differently, so that might throw some people off too :O it’s weird…

Got a tutorial over here! :D you can make the sparkles whatever shape you like~ have another tutorial here that mentions how you can make different brush shapes here, but I can make a proper tutorial for that if anyone would like :)
