Oh yeah, apparently I got a DD on dA for that picture I posted yesterday…
…so that’s a thing.
I am happy though that it’s on a picture I worked a lot harder on ^^’ never felt right that my one of my Magical Portal pictures got one, just weird that it happened in under 24 hours . _____ .

Anonymous: Omg that Red Kite illustration is gorgeous!!! I'm so curious - how do you do that gradient kind of shading on the character? Do you have any tuts for it? It's absolutely amazing <3
Thank you ; O ; I did the shading of that almost a year ago, so I can’t quite remember my brush settings but I can take a guess ^^’
Here’s the character up close,
I did almost all of it in SAI, to shade it I would’ve used the Brush tool with a relatively high density and mid-range blending like this,
I fiddled around with the settings a lot while doing this example, so my settings are never exactly that. I change them around depending on the size of the canvas, colour, and so on.
first I start with the base. Then I take my mid colour and shade in a gradient type shadow (either on the layer directly, or on the layer above with opacity mix at the same as colour blend)
Next I take my darkest colour and add in the shadows on a new layer (if you turned the opacity mix up then turn it back down)
and lastly I lock the opacity/transparency of that layer, take my mid colour, and lessen the shadow.
I think in some areas I had also then turned off the lock and used the water tool a bit on some edges but I can’t remember :| When shading some of the other things I tried to mix up the colours a bit

the other day we were greeted by a couple of Lorikeets in the morning~ which is odd cause we don’t seem to get them around the city all that much :| at least we know where our apples have been going ^^’

whooop~ forgot to upload this last night ^^’ just the progress of that picture. It kind of jumps ahead when I start shading though, I mainly used these as progress updates to hand in…and it would have been tedious to take a shot after shading each thing >:|

while I’m at it, a rough concept thing for Hazel’s grandma and Saffron’s partner, Mabel. Her familiar is a jellyfish, she can contact the crystal plane but at the expense of speech, only Mabel can speak with her.
now I just need to draw all of these guys XD I really want to draw Saffron and Mabel showing off their magic~ :D and them showing their magic to Hazel and Dahlia~

little doodle thing :| Crashy made this really cute picture of her Cotton Candy, Elementz’s Musella and my Foxgirl the other day ; O ; then I saw her new header and felt like drawing them all as Skyrim characters ^^’
Foxgirl you look scary . ______ . I had kind of given up by then, too humid in my room…might redraw it better later, everyone looks weird OTL sorry guys
My contribution to the Moon Animate project~ :3 still got some bits I’d like to fix up, nothing anyone but me would notice or make a fuss over though XD the original scene only had 3 frames of movement, so it was interesting to work with.
hurrgrhgrhgr, I’ve watched this scene so many times I can’t tell if my timing is right any more OTL might fix that too…maybe
